Billie Swamp Safari[/caption] Billie Swamp Safari is located on the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation in Clewiston, FL. This is a great place to visit, to learn about the different types of snakes and animals found in the Everglades. They have different shows, air boat rides and the famous Swamp Buggy Tour. I have been wanting to visit here forever. I had always wanted to ride on that Swamp Buggy and when i told people about it, they would just look at me crazy. - LOL Well, Nadia came home from school one day with a permission slip for the Billie Swamp Safari. There was no way she was going without me too. Yes, I will chaperone! Yikes, I have never chaperoned a class field trip before! Yes, I have volunteered at the school before, but never on a field trip. So, before I arrived at school that day I was more nervous of the kids than of the swamp critters, but as soon as I arrived in the class room, I was at ease. I love kids and the whole grade was so well-behaved and good. We ALL had a great time. Anyway let me tell you about the adventure:
Nadia's class was on the last bus and Nadia wanted us to sit up front. We drove a while on Alligator Alley and then turned off halfway and headed 30 miles North to Clewiston. I did not realize it was this far away from Alligator Alley. We were traveling on a two-lane highway for quite sometime and you could spot some alligators in the water along side the road. The kids were very excited. Then all of a sudden, I spotted a WILD HOG come running out in front of the bus. I was in such shock that all I could yell out was "there's a PIG!" The bus driver was able to slow down in time and I think we were all in shock. We all laughed afterwards. It was big, tan in color with black hair on its razor back. Sorry guys, I was in such shock, I could not get to my camera in time. As soon as we all arrived, we headed over to The Swamp Critter Show.
We then headed over to the Air boat Rides. What fun was that and such beautiful scenery. I am used to seeing just miles of miles of sawgrass when I go on an air boat ride, but this place had much different views.
Yes, even this big guy was found out there. It was neat to see the water buffalo cross through the water. Our guide was really good with the kids. We learned about mistletoe and that it is very poisonous. I did not even know we had that in Florida let a lone in the Everglades. After lunch we walked over to the Florida Panther Exhibit.
We then went on a nature walk. Good Lord! were the Alligators huge! I have never seen any that big before let alone not behind a wall in the zoo. We were up on a boardwalk. Look how they blend in:
On our walk, we saw one of the Chickees you can rent to camp in.
Now it was time for the Venomous Snake Show. This was great, because the guide showed all the poisonous snakes of Florida except for the Coral Snake. He really stressed to the kids to be very careful out in nature cause the snakes can really blend in to their surroundings and they are not to be played with.

Well, that concludes our Billie Swamp Safari Adventure. We all had a great time, learned a lot and the staff was really great and patient.
