The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is located in Boca Raton, FL.  Gumbo Limbo has around 20 acres of protected barrier island that serves as a refuge to a variety of plants and animals.  They help rehabilitate endangered sea turtles as well.  You can check there calendar here for the different activities that are going on.  Admission is a suggested $5 dollar donation.

I took Nadia and her friend here for the first time this summer.  It is quite the little gem!  We loved it.  This place is very educational and the staff was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

There were different types of tanks set up with a variety of marine life to view.  There were barracudas, small shark, parrot fish and of course sea Turtles.

This cute little guy is going to be released back into the ocean very soon.

There were many injured sea turtles that were being nursed back to health.  Some were wounded due to a boat propeller or being tangled by fishing line.  We thought the turtles were cute.

The park offers daily feeding presentations at certain aquarium exhibits like the barracuda!

There also happens to be a Florida Atlantic University Research Gallery on the property.  Here they have the baby sea turtles in tanks and where you find the seahorse.
Besides observing the marine-life at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, there is a butterfly garden and a Nature Walk.

Check the calendar for a nature led walk.  We went on one and learned a lot more than if we walked on our own.
Observation Tower on the Nature Walk

There was an observation tower to climb up on the nature walk.  Here are the views:

Along our nature walk, there were many banana spiders around, but thankfully they did not bother anybody.

After the nature walk, we looked in the gift shop and walked through the butterfly gardens.  This is a great place for kids and nature lovers.  You can check out more information by visiting the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center Website.
