Smithsonian Museum Day Live at Zoo Miami

This Saturday, September 24, 2016 is Museum Live!  Which was hosted by the Smithsonian Magazine.  They offer free admission for one adult and one guest at participating museums in the area for the day.  You need to get the tickets off of their website.

Zoo Miami was on the list, the year we tried it out.  This was a great idea by the Smithsonian Magazine to remind us to get out and visit our Museums.  We sometimes for forget about them with life's hustles and bustles.  Please visit their website for more information: Smithsonian Magazine

Zoo Miami is located at 1 Zoo Boulevard, 12400 SW 152nd Street, Miami, FL.   For Halloween happenings and more events happening at the zoo please click here .

We had arrived at the zoo around 10:00 a.m.  Nadia and I were able to walk right in with no waiting in line.  We handed in our free tickets, received our brochure and planned which way to start walking the zoo.

There are Safari Cycles and Pedal Boats to rent.  The Monorail and Tram Tours cost extra.  Also there are Giraffe Feedings for an extra cost.

There was a Koala Bear, who was sleeping.  He was hiding his head, so I could not get a good photo of him.  I just think Koala Bears are so cute.

I had never seen a deer do this!

The Zoo was very clean.  It was huge with so many different animals to learn about.

There were exhibits not only outside, but inside too.  Like snakes and frogs.

There was an Aviary where they had some colorful blue fish.

Also, we saw a wild dog and many different kinds of bear.

And last but not least, the King of the Jungle, the Mighty Lion! - Sleeping on the job.

Nadia and I had a very fun day!  Also, there was a splash zone for kids up to 12 years old.  We did not get a chance to try that out on this trip, but it looked like the kids were having fun.
