Our Trip to Washington DC - Part 3 - The Smithsonians

Museum of Natural History
After seeing the Memorials on the Trolley, we traveled to two of the Smithsonian Museums.  We first stopped at the Museum of American History.  These Museums are FREE.

There is a lot to see, with the history of our Nation.  We were able to see the original writing of the Star Spangled Banner, while we were there.

Then there was some recent historical items also, like Dorothy's Shoes from the Wizard of Oz and Archie Bunkers Chair.

After the American History Museum, we walked over to the Natural History Museum.  We also ate there.  The food was excellent.

After our time at the Museum we waited for the Trolley to come around again.  We loved this Sponge Bob Mailbox.

The Trolley came and we hopped on, visited the Welcome Center and then traveled back to Union Station.  We then caught the Metro to Crystal City and picked up our car and started on the long drive back home.  Just want to let you know, we left at 3:00 p.m. and got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on I-95 for two long hours.  So just keep in mind the traffic when planning your stay in Washington DC.

We had a lot of fun, but needed more than two days to explore.
