I had posted this on the old website in February of 2016.  This is a yearly event and can't wait to check out the Festival in 2017.

Since the weather has been so nice and cool lately here in Florida, I have been wanting to get outdoors.  I realized that the Florida Renaissance Festival was going to be opening its doors this weekend at Quiet Waters Park.  So I decided to give their website a check to see what was going on.  To my excitement, I saw that this weekend was Pirate Weekend!!!  I am a huge pirate buff.  We were definitely going.

There are a variety of shows that go on during the day at different stages located throughout the festival.  They have Celtic Dancers, comedy shows, re enactments and more.

Plenty of Shopping
The Fair has a lot of items for sale, such as, period dresses, kilts, jewelry, instruments, crafts and more.

You can also come dressed up in your favorite period costume.  It was a lot of fun to see everyone dressed up.  I wish that I could have, but I would have been the only one in our group, well probably Nadia would have dressed up too, but my Mom and Sister would not have.  Maybe I will next year.

The Renaissance Fair even has some rides.  Like the Giant Rocking Horse above.  The guy actually rocks it back and forth.  There were also a few fun looking spinning rides.

They also had many games and archery.  My daughter Nadia tried out the archery and actually got an arrow into the ring!  She was given a certificate and made an honorary knight for the day.  She was not happy with me when I called her Ser Nadia.

Band performers at the Florida Renaissance festival
One of the many music performers - They Sounded REALLY Good!!
There were many music performances going on throughout the day.  I love listening to the music from the Renaissance Era.  There were also bagpipes, bells and more.
Watch this clip of the Cast in Bronze performance.  It is a Carillon of Bells.  Very Cool!

They also had Henna Art and Crafts for Sale.  There was a parade of all the characters participating in the fair.  We even saw a Unicorn!

Look! A Unicorn!
The Renaissance Festival has a TON of food for sale.  It was hard to pick what you would want to eat.  They had grilled cheese, gyros, seafood, gator, turkey legs, english fair and more.  I decided since I was at a Renaissance Fair, I would have the Shepard's Pie and a Guinness of course.  The pie was  good, but small, I wanted more! It came with rice or salad, but I just opted for the pie.  My sister tried the Bangers and Mash and liked it as well.

After we were done eating, it was time to head over and watch the Joust.  It was a lot of fun cheering for our knights.  I think that was the highlight for me.  It was all good fun.

Watch some of the action below.  Go Robert and Tristan!

We saw a lot of Pirates there, including two Jack Sparrows and Blackbeard.

It was a pretty fun day, but you will need to bring a lot of extra spending money if you want to participate in everything.  The rides, archery, food, games, etc.  There are ATM machines throughout the fairground.

Click here for ticket prices and more information.  You will also need to pay admission to Quiet Waters Park too.  It is a very nice park and with the Festival there, even better.

I can't wait for next year.
