Our Travels to the Blowing Rock in Blowing Rock, North Carolina

The Blowing Rock in North Carolina
The Blowing Rock in North Carolina
We left The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina around 2:00 p.m. and headed onto Boone, NC.  It took us about and hour and thirty minutes to arrive at the BEST WESTERN PLUS Blue Ridge Plaza.  The Hotel was next to another hotel and you had to drive around back to the entrance.  It was a little confusing and I was tired.  We went in to register and I got in line.  Nadia needed to use the restroom and I told her to wait, cause soon we will have our room.  It was finally my turn to check-in and I glanced down at the carpet and it said Country Inn and Suites!!!  Here we were in the wrong hotel.  The guy then asks if he can help me, all I could say is “I guess this is not the Best Western?”  I was so embarrassed.  He looked at me strangely and directed us to the correct Hotel.  It was right next-door.  After we checked in and got our car unloaded.  I had us both take a much-needed nap.

When we woke up, we got back in the car and drove to The Blowing Rock in Blowing Rock, NC.

The Blowing Rock is an immense cliff 4,000 feet above sea level overhanging Johns River Gorge 3,000 feet below – Read about the legend here

Below is a short clip of the view of the Blue-Ridge Mountains from the Blowing Rock.

This place was down right beautiful.  All you can see are Blue Mountains as far as the eye can see.  They have a pretty little garden.  There is a fee and it only takes about an hour to explore; but we thought it was well worth it.
